Within the scope of the Bee-OPTECH4Honey project, a technical visit to Malta was successfully carried out as part of the ongoing international collaboration between Türkiye and Malta. The visit aimed to strengthen scientific cooperation, support field-based research activities, and enhance knowledge exchange related to honey characterization, ecological analysis, and digital technologies in apiculture. During the visit, a focused technical meeting and a short seminar session were held with colleagues from the University of Malta. Key aspects of the project were discussed, including current research progress, data integration strategies, and future work packages. The seminar provided an opportunity to exchange insights on regional biodiversity, apicultural practices, and data-driven approaches supporting sustainable honey production. The visit was attended by representatives from Işık University’s INTALALB research group, including Dr. Şahin Aydın, together with Hüseyin Deniz and Hasan Kıvrakdal, as well as Dr. Gökhan Akdeniz from the Aegean Agricultural Research Institute. The Maltese team, led by Prof. Dr. David Mifsud and supported by Matthew Calleja and Gabriel, hosted the delegation and contributed valuable scientific input throughout the visit. This Malta visit represents an important milestone in the Bee-OPTECH4Honey project, reinforcing international collaboration and supporting the project’s long-term objective of developing a sustainable, transparent, and data-driven honey value chain.
